Importance of Marriage in ISLAM
Marriage and family are the center of society in Islam. It’s very unique, embedded with special features of both sacramental and contractual nature.
Marriage in Islam may be traced to the creation of Hazrath Adam (AS) and the creation of Hazrath Hauwa (AS) as his companion. The Quran states: “And one of Allah’s signs is that He creates for you mates from yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and has ordained between you love and mercy.” (Surah ar-rum, 30:21)
Marriage referred to as ‘Nikah’ in Islam is an incredible act of worship fulfilling the order of Almighty Allah and following the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him).
In Islam marriage is an obligatory act of worship that acts as a conduit for coming closer to God. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half.”
Marriage makes you a complete human being. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says, “No house has been built in Islam more beloved in the sight of Allah than through marriage”.
Marriage is a divine path and those who possess both physical ability and emotional capability should embark upon this journey to experience love and happiness, to enjoy peace, tranquility, and security.
The Prophet (PBUH) said: “O assembly of youths, whoever among you is able to have, he should marry, for it is a restraint to the looks and he who is not able to let him keep fast”.
Marriage leads to an increase in sustenance, love, respect, caring, selflessness, and forgiving between a man and a woman.
It is very important to choose the right life partner, The Prophet (PBUH) says, "If there comes to you one with whose character and religious commitment you are pleased, then marry”.
